Snow & Co., artful frozen cocktails, has won the national Dreamstaurant contest, netting it $40,000 in equipment and services for its new Gladstone location.

Tundra Restaurant Supply, Boulder, Colo., held the 2nd Annual Dreamstaurant Contest. A panel of in-house judges selected seven companies from hundreds of entries across the country and then asked for online votes.

The contest is sponsored by the Manitowoc Company Inc., a commercial ice machine company; Arctic Industries Inc., a commercial walk-in cooler and freezer company; and Cambro, which offers commercial storage solutions.

“Snow & Co. had a good story to tell and were a company we wanted to partner with,” said Kasy Allen, spokeswoman for Tundra.

The first Snow & Co. opened in the Crossroads Arts District in November 2011. It specializes in frozen cocktails, but it also offers craft beers, cocktails, salads, sandwiches and appetizers.

Snow & Co. wants to open a second location at 504 N.E. 70th St., Gladstone. Dubbed the Gladstone 18 building after its 64118 ZIP code, the building previously housed the Gladstone post office. Snow & Co. plans a late summer opening.

As part of their Dreamstaurant entry, the owners described the look they wanted for their new Northland location.

“The walls will be brightly colored and reminiscent of the colors of winter jackets and clothes, with large overstuffed couches and chairs in modular design allowing easy reconfiguration by the guests. Local art would adorn the walls and be available for purchase by the guests. The centerpiece of the environment would be a bar with falling snowflakes in LED lights that accentuate the frozen cocktails spinning in their machines.”

As the contest winners, Snow & Co. will get $15,000 in design services and $25,000 in equipment.

“It is so amazing,” said Jerry Nevins, a founder and partner in Snow & Co. “It will pay for all of our frozen drink machines, if that is how we use it, and that was a huge startup cost when we opened up the first location.”
