Country Club Plaza owner doubles quarterly profit

Highwoods Properties, the North Carolina-based owner of the Country Club Plaza in Kansas City, on Monday said its fourth-quarter profit more than doubled from the previous year.

The Raleigh company earned $29.7 million in the final three months of 2013, up from a fourth-quarter 2012 profit of $14.1 million.

Rental income and other revenues for the quarter climbed to $149 million from $126.3 million in the 2012 quarter.

For the year, Highwoods earned $123 million on revenue of $557 million, compared with a profit of $77.1 million on revenue of $485 million in 2012.
