Before Janet Mock started her lecture to more than a 1,000 persons Saturday evening at the 2014 Midwest Bisexual Lesbian Gay Transgender Ally College Conference, I made a quick dash to the mens room at Bartle Hall.

At least I thought it was the mens room. As soon as I entered, I saw a woman freshening up at one of the sinks.
I gasped, thinking I stupidly and in haste had made a wrong turn into the ladys rest room before the lecture. No. It was the mens room because around the corner from the sinks were the urinals.
I also noticed that a wall usually separates the mens and womens rest rooms was gone, and I could see women in that area. No one was upset or put off by the openness.
What a brave new world.
