Lemongrass Thai Cuisine is now open in downtown Overland Park — a year after it was scheduled to open.

Owner Kevin Wong hired workers to gut the place and remodel. When it wasn’t up to his standards, he remodeled again. But during the second remodeling he was more hands-on.

Now a small bar is in front. The dining area is in back, down a wide hallway with doors looking into an open kitchen. The dining area also has large windows looking out onto the Farmers Market.

Lemongrass, at 7316 W. 80th St., offers made-from-scratch Thai cuisine using fresh ingredients, many from the neighboring market.

Menu items include Lemongrass House Pork (shredded pork coated with water chestnut flour and braised in sweet tangy wine sauce), beef and scallops in hot sauce, sesame chicken, sweet and sour chicken or pork, Thai curry, and Thai fried rice, along with appetizers, soups, and salads.

The space formerly housed Intentions, a sushi restaurant and live music venue.
