Updated: 2014-02-08T01:49:10Z

A Kansas City fire truck on the way to an apartment fire collided with another vehicle at Linwood Avenue and the Paseo about 1:30 p.m. Friday.

Firefighters asked for an ambulance at the wreck scene. They later reported significant damage to the vehicles and said a person who had been in the second vehicle was taken to a hospital as a precaution. Fire crews had just left the nearby station and were traveling north when the accident occurred. No firefighters were injured.

Different crews were dispatched to the apartment fire in the 2900 block of the Paseo. Firefighters entered the building but soon were ordered outside to battle the flames in a defensive mode.
