Nearly 10 million travelers flew in and out of Kansas City International Airport last year, down 1.1 percent from 2012.
The Kansas City Aviation Department, in its monthly traffic report, also noted that the number of passengers who boarded planes at KCI totaled 4.8 million in 2013. That was also down 1.1 percent from the previous year.
While 2013 results were off slightly, the holiday travel season was a good one at KCI. In December, 819,480 passengers arrived and departed through KCI’s gates. That was up 10.3 percent from December 2012. Passenger boardings at the airport were up 10.2 percent in the final month of last year.
Air cargo tonnage at KCI was up 5.1 percent in December and 2.7 percent for the year, the Aviation Department said.
