Woman found dead after KC house fire

Updated: 2014-02-02T14:32:54Z

The body of a woman was found inside a Kansas City house destroyed by fire Sunday morning.

Kansas City firefighters were called about 3:30 a.m. to the 7200 block of Park Avenue and found the single-family residence engulfed in flames. Crews were unable to enter the home because of the intensity of the flames, and fought the blaze from outside.

After the fire was extinguished, firefighters found the body of an adult female near the front of the residence.

Investigators will be working Sunday to determine what caused the fire. The home was declared a total loss.
