Five players from FC Kansas City were chosen to the U.S. women’s national team roster and will join the group as it prepares to kick off the season with a three-game road trip.

FC Kansas City will be represented by goalkeeper Nicole Barnhart, defender Becky Sauerbrunn, midfielders Lauren Holiday and Erika Tymrak and forward Amy Rodriguez on the 24-player roster.

The U.S. team will play its first match on Jan. 31 against Canada at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas, then face Russia on Feb. 8 at FAU Stadium in Boca Raton, Fla. To finish the trip, the U.S. team will face Russia for a second time on Feb. 12 at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.

FC Kansas City also announced on Friday that it will hold open tryouts from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Feb. 16 at UMKC’s Durwood Stadium.

Interested players must register through the FC Kansas City website and pay a $50 registration fee. Players who register onsite on Feb. 16 will pay a $65 registration fee.

Following last year’s open tryouts, FC Kansas City invited Natalie Norris, Vendula Strnadova, Missy Geha and Jaime French to train. All four saw game action, and French was later added to the full roster.
