Missouri football fans are invited to the first #MizzouMade Recruiting Reception on Feb. 5 at the Hampton Inn, 1225 Fellow’s Place in Columbia.

The reception will celebrate the Tigers’ 2014 recruiting class, which will be announced earlier that day. Feb. 5 marks the beginning of the NCAA football signing period.

Missouri, of course, is coming off a superb season.

The Tigers tied the program record for victories, going 12-2 and winning the SEC East as well as the Cotton Bowl.

Playing its second season in the SEC, Missouri lost to Auburn in the conference title game before bouncing back with a 41-31 win against former Big 12 rival Oklahoma State on Jan. 3 at AT&T Stadium for its second Cotton Bowl victory in six years.

The reception is free and open to the public. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with video highlights and commentary on each new signing by coach Gary Pinkel to begin at 6 p.m.

RSVPs are encouraged at

Missouri, which finished the season ranked No. 5, opted not to increase tickets prices for the 2014 season, which includes home games against Fiesta Bowl champion Central Florida and Indiana along with SEC battles versus Georgia and border rival Arkansas.

Season tickets for the general public are $379 or $160 for students ($240 for a football/basketball combo pack).

Tiger Zone season tickets, faculty/staff season tickets, seasons tickets in the new east side upper level and young alumni season tickets for graduates from the last three years are $288, while a family fun pass costs $750.

Season tickets in the Touchdown Terrace are $800 and cost $500 in the Tiger Lounge and Suites.

Renewals mailers will be sent in mid-February, while new season tickets requests can sign up at for a nonrefundable $50 deposit.

Some seats also require an annual per-seat donation to the Tiger Scholarship Fund. Those fees also are unchanged for the 2014 season.

Brown chosen as Tigers’ basketball legend

Former Missouri men’s basketball standout John Brown was chosen as a 2014 Allstate SEC Basketball Legend and will be recognized during the SEC men’s basketball tournament, which begins March 12 at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.

Brown averaged nearly 20 points and 10 rebounds during his three-year Tigers career from 1970-73. He ranks 16th on Missouri’s career scoring list (1,421) and third in career points per game (19.7).

Brown’s rebounding average ranks fourth all-time for the Tigers. He was a member of the 1972 U.S. Olympic team but didn’t play due to injury and was drafted 10th overall by the Atlanta Hawks in 1973.
