Crate & Barrels January 2014 Best & Buys catalog is out, and its full of the usual modern, streamlined stuff, some of it in black, white or bright colors; the rest in wood tones.

Standouts this time around include the rather curvy Pennie Sofa ($899), which comes in three colors: linen, charcoal and a very pretty cornflower blue. Whats nice is that Crate & Barrel sends a fabric swatch via next day air for your final approval, the day after you place your order.
The Genevieve bed linens ($24.95-$149.95) include cotton percale duvets, shams and sheets printed with a fresh coral and white geometric quilting pattern.
The Tribeca floor lamp ($199) has nice proportions, with a tall, slim drum shade and thick mango wood base, and the Otto fan ($199.95), which is crafted of an African wood typically used for guitars and hardwood flooring, is about as beautiful as a functional item can get.
The same can be said for the Redecker line of cleaning tools, which includes a goat hair hand brush ($29.95), feather duster ($24.95), scrub brush ($4.95), hedgehog crumb brush ($12.95) and rubber upholstery brush ($29.95). The line has been handcrafted of all-natural materials in Germany since 1935 by the Redeckers, a family of artisan brushmakers. The hedgehog crumb brush seems well worth the splurge.
