Fitbit Force is giving some users a skin rash

Fixing the Fitbit rash

Fitbit, a maker of wearable fitness devices, is offering to refund or replace the Force, its latest product, after users began reporting that the gadget is irritating their skin.

The Force came out last fall and is available for about $130. Users wear the gadget on their wrists to track how much exercise they do throughout the day. The company has not said whether it plans to recall the device.

Chronic care plan

A bipartisan group of lawmakers is proposing a new approach to health care, the Better Care Program, aimed at avoiding hospitalizations for older people when possible.

Teams of doctors, nurses and social workers would get a flat fee per Medicare patient, with few strings attached.

Taking on Nutella

Hershey said it is introducing a line of chocolate spreads, including a hazelnut variety reminiscent of Nutella, a spread made by the Italian company Ferrero.

The move points to the strong growth in the category. Over the past five years, sales of Nutella in the U.S. have more than tripled to $240.4 million, according to market researcher Euromonitor International. In 2012, J.M. Smucker also got into the game with its Jif hazelnut spreads.

Ford recalls Edge

Ford Motor Co. is recalling 27,933 Edge crossovers in the U.S. because a damper in the fuel line could crack and cause fuel leaks.

The recall involves Edges from the 2012 and 2013 model years with 2.0-liter engines. Ford dealers will repair the fuel lines free. The company will begin notifying owners next month.

From the North American International Auto Show in Detroit:

• Honda Motor Co. introduced a high-performance Acura TLX sedan that the company says is critical to reversing a drop in premium Acura car deliveries. Pricing and volume goals weren’t given for the TLX, which goes on sale in mid-2014 and will offer a new all-wheel-drive system.

• Drivers’ privacy needs to be protected by law, said Alan Mulally, chief executive officer of Ford Motor Co., as more vehicles add Internet connectivity and location-based services. The company is “supportive and participating” in talks with regulators who are considering such legislation, Mulally said. He countered comments made last week by his global marketing chief, who said Ford knows when drivers of its vehicles violate traffic laws.

Marketplace for volunteers

Professional networking site LinkedIn is now letting its users search for volunteer positions in addition to paid jobs.

LinkedIn has launched a “volunteer marketplace,” which lets users browse volunteer opportunities posted by nonprofit groups. Nonprofits, meanwhile, can reach out to LinkedIn users who have expressed an interest in volunteering.
