The companys milestone reflects its reach beyond its Kansas City area base. The company claims a large Front Flip following in Dallas, Atlanta, Philadelphia, New York and Minneapolis.
Front Flip, founded in November 2011, had said last July that it expected to top the million mark by the end of 2013.
Consumers use Front Flip by downloading its app and scanning Front Flip QR codes they find at restaurants, in stores or on product packages, Facebook pages and mailings.
The QR codes, which look something like a squared bar code, deliver the digital scratch-off cards to phones or other mobile devices. A finger swipe reveals a prize, such as discounts or freebies from the business, about half the time.
Companies offer the prize cards as a loyalty marketing program. Signing up through the app includes providing your name, sex, birth date, ZIP code and permission to send notifications.
Front Flips data from the app and scans allow companies to track customers visits and send out additional scratch cards to reward frequent visits or spark future ones. Consumers also can share scratch-off cards by sending copies to their friends.
