Police: Kansas woman's body in house for months

Updated: 2014-01-14T14:24:00Z

— Police say the body of a woman found in a west Wichita home apparently had been there for months.

Lt. Todd Ojile says officers went to the home Friday after a neighbor reported she hadn't seen the people in the home for several days.

Officers found a 69-year-old man dead, apparently of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. While investigating further, they found the body of an 88-year-old woman, who is believed to be the man's mother.

Ojile says the woman's body was wrapped in tarps, and she had been dead for several months.

No further information was immediately released.
