Updated: 2014-01-13T13:50:51Z

A multi-vehicle crash Monday morning tied up traffic in the northeast corner of Kansas City’s downtown loop.

The crash occurred about 7:15 a.m. and shut the two left lanes of westbound Interstate 70 at the Oak Street/Grand Avenue/Walnut Street exit.

The crash caused traffic headed into downtown Kansas City along southbound Interstate 29/35 to back up to Missouri 210 in North Kansas City.

Emergency crews hoped to have the wreckage cleared and the lanes reopened by 8:15 a.m.
