Heart of America Conference adds two Iowa members

Updated: 2014-01-10T19:31:07Z

The Heart of America Athletic Conference is expanding.

The Kansas City-based NAIA conference will add two Iowa schools: Grand View University of Des Moines and William Penn of Oskaloosa. The schools will begin competition in 2015-16.

The additions will bring membership to 12 with schools in Missouri, Kansas, Iowa and Nebraska.

“I was instructed over the last four to five years to expand the conference and its geographic footprint,” commissioner Larry Lady said Friday.

Lady, who will step down as commissioner this year, called the schools “great geographical additions and excellent institutions.”

Grand View won the NAIA football championship this season.
