Joseph Anthony Ford-Gray, 19, of Lee’s Summit, and Jessica Nicole Cayton, 29, of Belton, were in the county jail.
Bail for each was set at $100,000 cash.
They were arrested Wednesday after one of their alleged victims escaped and ran to a neighboring house for help.
According to court documents, a man in the 15700 block of Richmond Avenue in Belton called police shortly before 3 p.m. to report a woman knocking on his back door. Police found the woman with zip ties on her left wrist and left ankle. She told police that she and a man had gone to another house in the same block to retrieve some property she had left there.
Once she got there, people in the house accused her of stealing $900, which she denied. She said she was forced to take off all her clothes, and one of the people in the house cut off some of her hair before allowing her to get dressed.
The male victim was told to strip to his boxer shorts and to lie facedown on the floor. Then Ford-Gray and Cayton put zip ties around his hands behind his back and around his feet, court documents allege.
Cayton also allegedly placed zip ties around the female victim’s hands, but she was able to run out the door for help.
When police went to the house, no one answered, and they could not see inside. The officers entered and found the male victim as well as Ford-Gray and Cayton.
Two other people who had reportedly been in the house had left. Police then obtained a search warrant to collect evidence from the house.
