Kansas State broke into the Associated Press college basketball poll Monday for the first time this season following an upset of then-No. 6 Oklahoma State in the Big 12 Conference opener.

The Wildcats, 11-3, are ranked No. 25. The Cowboys, 12-2, fell to 11th.
K-State started the season slowly by losing three of its first five games to unranked opponents, including Northern Colorado and Charlotte, but it has been on a tear since December began. During a nine-game winning streak, the Wildcats have knocked off Mississippi, Gonzaga, George Washington and Oklahoma State.
The Wildcats first started picking up votes last week following an upset over Gonzaga in Wichita. Wins over George Washington (receiving votes) and Oklahoma State were enough to push K-State into the national polls.
The Wildcats are one of five ranked Big 12 teams: Baylor is No. 7, Iowa State No. 9 and Kansas No. 18.
Kansas State’s entry into the poll means all three Division I teams in Kansas are ranked for a second straight season.
Wichita State, 15-0, moved up two spots to No. 6, the Shockers’ highest ranking since Dec. 29, 1981, when they were No. 2.
Missouri, 12-1, moved to No. 21 from No. 25. Florida (No. 10) and Kentucky (No. 14) are the other ranked SEC teams.
The Tigers’ only loss is to Illinois, which entered the poll at No. 23 this week.
Kansas, 9-4, fell two spots after losing to San Diego State on Sunday in Lawrence. The Aztecs moved up from No. 21 to No. 13.
