KC police identify woman who died in traffic crash last month

Kansas City police on Thursday identified a driver who died of injuries she suffered in a wreck last month while out Christmas shopping. She was Shilah Floyd, 22, of Kansas City.

Investigators said Floyd, another woman and that woman’s 7-year-old son were eastbound on Armour Boulevard the afternoon of Dec. 23 when a pickup truck southbound on The Paseo crashed into them. A witness told police the truck ran the red light, police said.

The truck’s driver stayed at the scene and talked with police. The woman passenger and her son both suffered non life-threatening injuries. Floyd died Dec. 27. Several of her organs were donated, police said.

Police were still investigating and waiting for test results.
