Federal prosecutors say Casey M. Widman, 58, showed a handgun and stole $838 from a teller at the Bank Midwest at 6249 Brookside Blvd.
The teller said the robber showed her a black pistol and said he wanted to make a withdrawal in “all fifties and hundreds,” according to the affidavit filed in U.S. District Court in Kansas City.
After the robber left, a witness told police he had seen a blue Ford Taurus parked nearby. An officer spotted a car matching that description pull into a gas station at 63rd Street and Prospect Avenue. Widman, who matched the description of the robber, was a passenger in the back seat.
In the car, officers found a black pellet pistol and a jacket matching the description of the one worn by the robber. They also found $389 in one of Widman’s boots, according to the allegations.
The other two occupants of the car, who have not been charged, had $517 between them, according to the affidavit.
Widman previously served more than six years in federal prison for bank robbery, prosecutors noted in court documents.
