Last chance this weekend to see Toy and Miniature Museum before it closes temporarily

Updated: 2013-12-31T01:26:33Z

The Toy and Miniature Museum in Kansas City will close after this weekend to remake itself for reopening in 2015.

It is also renaming itself the National Museum of Toys and Miniatures.

The museum at 5235 Oak St. will be open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, and 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday. The museum has raised nearly $9 million to replace the climate-control systems and renovate the exhibits.

“We have to replace the HVAC, so we’re taking that opportunity to work with an exhibit design firm out of California to reorient and improve our visitor experience,” said community development coordinator Cassie Mundt.

Through Sunday, everything in the museum store is on sale.
