With four kickoff returns for 125 yards (31.3 average.) in Sunday’s game at San Diego, the the Chiefs set an NFL record for highest kickoff return average in a single season with a 29.9 average - 1,316 yards on 44 returns. The Chiefs’ mark passes the old NFL record of 29.4 yards per return set by the 1972 Chicago Bears.

Also, Dexter McCluster returned one punt for 32 yards, giving him 58 punt returns for 686 yards (11.8 average) for the season.

His 58 punt returns tied J.T. Smith’s franchise record for most punt returns in a season set in 1979 and his 686 punt return yards broke the team record of 640 set by Tamarick Vanover in 1999.

McCluster, a 2013 Pro Bowl selection, led the NFL in both punt returns and punt return yards.
