I’m seeking an extension, please;
Just show the forms; I’ll pay the fees.
“You mean for taxes?” thus they’ll ask.
But no — a somewhat different task.
I mean this year — so fast it’s run,
So much still on my list undone!
And thus I’d like this year extended
Till undone things are all attended.
And all I ask: a month or three;
Just splice ’em on, some time for me.
In shock, I blurt my year-end screed:
You haven’t got the forms I need?
