Armed man robs Kansas City bank

A man robbed a Northeast area bank in Kansas City early Friday afternoon.

At 1:45 p.m., the man approached a teller inside the UMB Bank at 6400 Independence Ave., displayed a weapon and announced the robbery. The man left in an unknown direction after receiving an unknown amount of cash. Nobody was injured.

Authorities described him as a white male of medium build in his late 40s to early 50s, wearing a tan coat, red scarf and hat.
