A blaze that apparently started from fireplace embers placed on a back deck caused $75,000-$100,000 damage to an Overland Park house on Monday.

Fire officials said no one was home when the fire started just before 7 p.m. near 99th and Ballentine streets. Three cats were rescued from the house.
