Updated: 2013-12-20T04:00:13Z

Two armed robbery suspects were injured in a traffic wreck Thursday while leading police on a high-speed chase through southeast Kansas City.

The two reportedly were thrown from the vehicle after it struck another vehicle and hit a curb on Blue Parkway near Elmwood Avenue.

Officers began pursuing them around 2:15 p.m. Thursday after a robbery was reported in the 9800 block of Holmes Road. During the chase, the fleeing car reached speeds of 90 to 100 mph, according to officers in a police helicopter following the vehicle.

Officers involved in the chase were warned to be careful because the pair had fired shots in previous robberies, according to the police radio.

After crashing, they were taken into custody and transported to hospitals. The extent of their injuries was not immediately known.

Blue Parkway was closed in both directions while officers investigated.
