Two MIAA football players chosen All-Americans

Pittsburg State senior wide receiver John Brown and Northwest Missouri State sophomore defensive lineman Matt Longacre were chosen Division II All-Americans on Tuesday by the American Football Coaches Association.

Brown, who caught 61 passes for 1,198 yards and 14 touchdowns, is an All-American for the second straight season.

Longacre was the Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletics Association defensive player of the year. The Bearcats play Lenoir-Rhyne (N.C.) for the Division II national title on Saturday in Florence, Ala.

Soccer honors

Lindenwood senior defender Rodney Mays, a Raytown graduate from Kansas City, and Rockhurst senior forward Mark Magee were chosen third-team Division II All-Americans by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

Magee, who scored 15 goals as the Hawks reached the NCAA Division II semifinals, was a first-team All-American in 2011 and a second-team pick in 2012.
