Six children were taken to Cameron Regional Medical Center Friday afternoon after the Cameron R-1 School District bus they were riding in slid off the roadway.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the incident occurred shortly after 4 p.m. on Stone Creek Road, near Old U.S. Highway 36, about one mile east of Cameron. Icy roads were identified as the likely cause.

Highway patrol officials said occupants were taken to Cameron Regional Medical Center by private vehicle.

A hospital spokeswoman confirmed that six students were brought in for treatment. She said all would be treated and released.
