A 24-year-old man was killed Thursday evening in Blue Springs after being pinned beneath the bucket of a Bobcat compact front-end loader.

Authorities identified him as Michael B. Fisher of Blue Springs.

The incident was reported just after 11 p.m. at a business in the 2800 block of East U.S. 40.

According to initial reports, Fisher was helping his father place a glass door on the Bobcat.

Fisher was standing outside the Bobcat and holding the door, and his 59-year-old father was inside the Bobcat, said Sgt. Ronda Montgomery of the Jackson County sheriff’s office.

The father leaned forward to grab the door to adjust it and accidentally hit a control, which caused the bucket to be lowered.

Fisher died at the scene.
