Missouri 291 temporarily closed in Independence after vehicle hits pedestrian

A vehicle struck a pedestrian early Tuesday morning forcing police to close southbound Missouri 291 at Salisbury Road in Independence.

The pedestrian was hit about 5:50 a.m. and was taken to a hospital. The extent of the pedestrian’s injuries was not immediately available.

Although the highway reopened about 7 a.m., police remained at the scene investigating the incident.
