Pedestrian struck, killed while walking on I-49 in Grandview

Grandview police are investigating the death of a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle Sunday on Interstate 49.

The victim was identified as 53-year-old Terry Douglas of Grandview.

Police were contacted about 9 p.m. by a driver of a pickup who reported striking a person walking along the interstate median near the intersection of 135th Street and southbound I-49. A Ford F-350 pick-up truck struck Douglas, who was wearing dark clothing.

Douglas died at the scene. Traffic along the interstate was shut down for several hours while police gathered evidence.

Police interviewed and released the driver.
