ATLANTA — Most Missouri fans who were walking through the SEC FanFare on Friday managed to score tickets through the university and paid roughly $100 for a seat for Saturday’s SEC championship game, which kicks off at 3 p.m. against Auburn at the Georgia Dome.

Prices for tickets bought on the secondary market were considerably steeper.
Dan Zessinger, his son and two friends made the trip from St. Louis after purchasing four tickets for $240 apiece the week of Thanksgiving before the Tigers topped Texas A&M to clinch the SEC East title.
Evan Baker, his son Austin and two of Austin’s friends, Jared McCauslin and Jacob Greeley, waited until after No. 5 Missouri topped the Aggies and forked over $275 per ticket.
A couple from Potosi, Mo., who asked not to be identified by name, didn’t buy tickets before traveling to Atlanta but planned to buy tickets outside the stadium Saturday and expected to pay roughly $200 apiece.
The average ticket price, according to SeatGeek.com, has fallen sharply during the week from $410 to $276 on Friday, a drop of 33 percent.
Tickets in Missouri sections are considerably cheaper than in Auburn sections.
Seats in the upper deck for Missouri’s section are available for under $200, but the average price in the Auburn section is $247.
For seats in the lower bowl, the difference is even more pronounced, where tickets in Missouri’s section start as low as $255. Lower-bowl seats in the Auburn section, which are far fewer in number, start at $366 and average $473 each since Monday.
Earlier Friday, the SEC warned fans to beware of counterfeit tickets.
Officially, the game is sold out, and fans with stolen or counterfeit tickets won’t be admitted. The ticket validation window at the Georgia Dome’s main box office opened at 10 a.m. Saturday for fans desiring to confirm the authenticity of their tickets.
The SEC does not issue PDF or paper tickets for the conference title game, and every ticket includes several holographic foil SEC logos with two strips of foil at the top of the ticket.
