A worker suffered serious burns early Friday morning after an explosion and fire at a Kansas City, Kan., business.

Two other workers were treated for smoke inhalation after the fire broke out about 1:15 a.m. Friday at Caravan Ingredients, 550 S. 18th Street.

Kansas City, Kan., fire officials said the injured worker was mixing bulk baking ingredients when the incident occurred. The worker suffered third-degree burns to both arms and second-degree facial burns, according to the fire department.

The fire was contained to a large mixing hopper and was quickly put out by firefighters.
