Independence police have identified the 63-year-old man who died Tuesday when he was pinned between two tractor-trailers as Manjit S. Nirwal.
The accident happened around midday at the CDC Distribution Center in the 16500 block of East Truman Road in Independence. Nirwal is a resident of Brampton, Ontario, in Canada. Witnesses told police that Nirwal had gotten out of his tractor-trailer when it began to roll backwards toward another tractor-trailer.
Nirwal tried to physically stop the vehicle but was pinned between the two trucks. He was taken to a hospital and died.
The accident remains under investigation, police said.
