Baker men’s soccer falls in NAIA round of 16

Fourteenth-seeded Baker lost 3-2 to No. 4 Ashford (Iowa) in double overtime in the NAIA men’s soccer round of 16 on Monday in Montgomery, Ala.

On Tuesday, No. 9 seed MidAmerica Nazarene plays No. 8 Belhaven (Miss.) at 1:30 p.m., No. 10 seed Missouri Valley plays No. 7 Hastings (Neb.) at 4 p.m. and No. 6 seed Benedictine plays No. 11 Auburn-Montgomery at 6:30 p.m. for quarterfinal berths.

Volleyball

The Kansas volleyball team had four players selected all-Big 12, including setter of the year Erin McNorton, and Ray Bechard won coach of the year for the second straight time.

Two Kansas State players won Big 12 awards: Senior middle blocker Kaitlynn Pelger, formerly of Olathe South, made the all-Big 12 first team and Katie Brand was chosen to the all-freshman team.

The Jayhawks’ other first-team selections were senior middle blocker Caroline Jarmoc and junior outside hitters Sara McClinton and Chelsea Albers. Tayler Soucie made the all-freshman team.

KU plays Wichita State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday at Allen Fieldhouse.

• Park, MidAmerica and Columbia begin NAIA tournament pool play Tuesday. Park plays Georgetown (Ky.), MidAmerica Nazarene plays The Master’s (Calif.) and Columbia plays Westmont (Calif.) at 3:15 p.m.
