UMKC has promoted Carla Wilson to be the Kangaroos’ new athletic director.

Wilson will become the first female athletic director in school history and the only one in the Western Athletic Conference. She will be formally introduced Monday at a news conference in the Sprint Center.

She had been UMKC’s senior associate athletic director and had served as the Kangaroos’ interim A.D. since Tim Hall left for the same position in June at Maryland-Baltimore County.

A UMKC spokesman said Wilson won’t comment on the position until Monday’s announcement, which starts at 10:30 a.m.
