— Kansas is returning to the Maui Invitational.

The Jayhawks will be a part of an eight-team field at the annual November basketball tournament in 2015, four years after their last appearance in Maui. Previously, Kansas State and Missouri were announced as part of the 2014 Maui field.

Kansas will join Indiana, St. John’s, UCLA, UNLV, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest and host school Chaminade at the Lahaina Civic Center from Nov. 23-25, 2015.

It’s more basketball in the tropics for Kansas, which will open the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament Thursday against Wake Forest in Paradise Island, Bahamas. By rule, schools are only allowed to play in the same event every four years.

Kansas, which has competed in the Maui Invitational five times, finished runner-up in 2011, falling to Duke in the championship game.
