It also includes the classic KC script logo over the heart. It is the logo that appears on the club’s caps, but this marks the first time it will appear on their regular-season uniforms.
“The KC logo continued to be extremely popular with our fan base and is synonymous with Kansas City,” said Kevin Uhlich, the club’s senior vice president for business operations.
“With that in mind, the Royals are excited to incorporate the logo into our uniform collection for the 2014 season.”
A club release said the new look “includes several design elements featured in the club’s various blue ‘batting practice’ jerseys worn from the 1980s into the early 2000s.”
The jersey is trimmed in white and powder-blue piping. The numeral and player name will be white with a powder-blue outline.
The club release also notes the new jerseys are available for sale exclusively at the Royals Majestic Team Store, which is located at Gate C at Kauffman Stadium. The cost: $94.99 for replica versions; $199 for authentic versions.
