There was a lot of outrage on Twitter on Sunday.

OK, that’s nothing new, right? But there was considerable anger from baseball fans and major-leaguers over the Cardinals and shortstop Jhonny Peralta agreeing to a deal worth $52 million over four years, according to ESPN.

Peralta was suspended this summer as part of the Biogenesis investigation. That’s what led to the unhappy tweets.

Royals pitcher Jeremy Guthrie tweeted: “It is CLEAR,there are owners & players who have no desire to clean up the game. However,I will never absolve the player for choosing to cheat”

Guthrie also tweeted the same in Spanish (as near as I could tell).

What do you think? If the Royals had a need for Peralta (or another player suspended for performance-enhancing drugs) and had a chance to sign him, would you want the team to do so?

Vote in the poll.
