A 50-year-old man was charged Thursday with the attempted murder of his boss, who was stabbed multiple times at an Overland Park business Tuesday.

Johnson County prosecutors charged Rieter Christian Wirtz with attempted first-degree murder in connection with the assault, which left the victim hospitalized in critical condition.

Wirtz, of Overland Park, also was charged with four counts of aggravated assault for allegedly brandishing the knife toward other employees who intervened in the attack at 8800 Grant Ave.

The employees held Wirtz until police arrived and arrested him.

His bond was set at $750,000. He was being held Thursday in the Johnson County Jail.
