Updated: 2013-11-18T19:27:04Z

— The Wyandotte Nation has opened up the first Sonic Drive-In owned by a Native American tribe.

The restaurant opened Monday. It's in Seneca, Mo., about 10 miles from the tribe's headquarters in Wyandotte, Okla.

A sacred pipe ceremony and ribbon cutting marked the opening for the restaurant.

Wyandotte Nation Chief Billy Friend said the tribe believes the restaurant will be another economic development for the Nation.
