The Star’s high school football players of the week (Nov. 14)

Missouri: Jaylend Simmons

SCHOOL: Liberty North

YEAR: Senior

Adding to his team-leading total, Simmons had 10 tackles in a 35-0 win over Lafayette in a Missouri Class 4 district championship game. That was only half the story. He also carried the ball 23 times for 105 yards and a touchdown. Liberty will play at Bolivar in the Class 4 quarterfinals game at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

Kansas: Chance Nelson

SCHOOL: Blue Valley

Year: Senior

Nelson had four touchdowns in Blue Valley’s 42-14 victory against Shawnee Heights last Friday. He rushed for 180 yards with three touchdowns on the ground and had 17 receiving yards with another touchdown. Nelson is averaging 144.8 rushing yards per game, and he has 17 rushing touchdowns.
