MU quarterback James Franklin to sign autographs before basketball game at Sprint Center

Missouri senior quarterback James Franklin will sign autographs Saturday in downtown Kansas City before the Tigers men’s basketball team plays Hawaii at 6 p.m. in the Sprint Center.

Franklin and other selected players from the ninth-ranked Missouri football team will sign autographs from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the Power & Light District’s main stage.

The Tigers’ football team also will take part in a halftime pep rally.

As for the basketball game, Missouri, 2-0, returns to Kansas City for the first time since winning the 2012 Big 12 tournament championship against Baylor and plays Hawaii for the first time since 1995.

Tickets, which start at $16, are available at the Sprint Center box office, AXS.com and MizzouInKC.com.

Sam gets Camp recognition

Missouri senior defensive end Michael Sam was one of 15 players announced Wednesday as players to watch for the Walter Camp Award, which goes to the top player in college football.

Four other players from the Southeastern Conference, Texas A&M’s Johnny Maziel and Mike Evans along with Alabama’s A.J. McCarron and C.J. Mosley, also were included.

The five finalists will be announced Dec. 2.
