Sprint: Service restored to disrupted markets

Updated: 2013-11-15T05:01:55Z

Service is back up for Sprint customers in Kansas City, St. Louis and Oklahoma City following a maintenance snafu Thursday morning, the company said.

Customers lost the ability to make calls, connect to the Internet or exchange text messages with others around 6 a. m. Spokeswoman Melinda Tiemeyer said the outage began when maintenance work that “obviously went awry.”

Service began to return to some customers before 9 a. m. and Tiemeyer said at 11:30 a. m. that full coverage was available. Customers should see service return normally.

“You don’t have to turn off your phone,” she said.

Earlier this month, a severed fiber optic line disrupted Sprint service in the Minneapolis area but Tiemeyer said the current problem was not of that nature.
