Collision with cab critically injures bicyclist in KC

Updated: 2013-11-13T18:12:46Z

A cab struck and critically injured a bicyclist Tuesday night at 39th and Southwest Trafficway in Kansas City.

The bicyclist’s head crashed through the cab’s windshield in the 10:30 p.m. accident, police said. The bicyclist then rolled up on the roof before tumbling onto the ground. The cab tore the bike in half and crunched half of it.

The victim was expected to survive his injuries, which included a broken femur.

The cab driver told police he had the green light. Police were not able to interview the bicyclist because of his injuries. Detectives were gathering video from nearby buildings and checking to see if the accident was caught on the red light camera’s surveillance.
