Parisi, which has cafes in Union Station and Leawoods Park Place shopping center, roasts its coffee beans locally in small batches. Both Parisi Cafes use homemade syrups (try the salted caramel in a latte), whipped cream and marshmallows.
Parisi Cafe has some pretty good company on the Fodors list, which also includes Intelligentsia Coffee in Chicago, Stumptown Coffee Roasters in Portland and Victrola Coffee Roasters in Seattle, where I tried my first sip of pour-over coffee.
This isnt the first national honor for Parisi Cafe this year. In April, quality assurance manager Pete Licata won the 2013 U.S. Barista Championship. Then, in May, he won the 2013 World Barista Championship. Which means the best barista in the world pulls espresso shots right here in Kansas City.
