Wiggins, Selden and Embiid selected to Wooden Award preseason watch list

Three on Wooden list

Kansas freshmen Andrew Wiggins, Wayne Selden and Joel Embiid have been selected to the preseason watch list for the John R. Wooden Award, given annually to the national player of the year. KU was one of four teams to place at least three players on the 50-man list, which was chosen by a preseason poll of college basketball experts. Duke and Michigan State also have three players, while Kentucky has four on the list.

It was no surprise that Wiggins and Selden, both McDonald’s All-Americans, were selected, but the inclusion of Embiid, a 7-foot center who comes off the bench, hints at his immense potential. Former Kansas guard Ben McLemore was a Wooden All-American last season.
