Today, we wish for just one ounce of the courage Deborah Cohan had before she underwent a double mastectomy, just one ounce of the joy she had on her face when she danced with the medical team before her operation on Tuesday.

Cohan, an Ob/Gyn and mother of two, held a dance party in the operating room at Mt. Zion Hospital in San Francisco. The 6-minute dance to Beyonce’s “Get Me Bodied,” was posted on YouTube.

There she is, having a great time in her hospital gown and bouffant surgical cap, breakin’ it down like she’s having the time of her life with friends at a club.

She also asked family and friends to make videos of themselves dancing to Beyonce music so she could watch them while recovering.

“Dance is my medicine,” she told them.

“Nothing brings me greater joy than catalyzing others to dance, move, be in their bodies. Are you with me people?” she wrote on her CaringBridge page.

The video of her OR dance is closing in on 1 million hits. On Thursday, Beyonce posted a link to a Huffington Post story about Cohan on her Facebook page with this comment: "Deborah, you are awesome!"

We’ve watched the video twice. With tears in our eyes.
