A Kansas City teenager has been charged with second-degree murder in a convenience store killing in June.
Jackson County prosecutors also charged Isaiah J. Hunter, 18, with one count of first-degree assault and two counts of armed criminal action.
Authorities found the victim, Miguel Mitchell, outside Pops Quick Shop at Ninth Street and Indiana Avenue. According to court documents, the shooting occurred about 5:30 p.m. June 10 as Mitchell and his brother were leaving the store.
Two witnesses told police that Hunter allegedly had confirmed he had shot Mitchell, according to court records. The victims brother, who was wounded in the shooting, told authorities he saw Hunter produce a firearm just before he and his brother were shot.
Prosecutors have requested a $250,000 bond.
