The Big 12 announced its 2014 football schedule Tuesday.
The Kansas City Star
Kansas will play at Kansas State in the Sunflower Showdown on Nov. 29, and that will end the Jayhawks’ conference season. The Wildcats will visit Baylor on Dec. 6.
KU and K-State will end their current seasons on Nov. 30 when they meet in Lawrence.
In 2014, TCU and Iowa State will meet on the first weekend of December. Oklahoma-Oklahoma State will be either Nov. 29 or Dec. 6.
Other surprises in the 2014 schedule include a Thursday game for K-State. The Wildcats will travel to West Virginia for a midweek game on Nov. 20.
Kansas will open its Big 12 slate next season Sept. 27 against Texas. It will then travel to play West Virginia and return home to face Oklahoma State. A trip to Texas Tech comes after that, then a week off and another trip to Baylor. The schedule continues with home games against Iowa State and TCU and road games at Oklahoma and Kansas State.
Kansas State’s conference slate will begin Oct. 4 against Texas Tech, followed by road games against Iowa State and Oklahoma. Texas and Oklahoma State will then visit Manhattan. Next up will be a road game at TCU and the Thursday clash at West Virginia. Its season will end with the home game against Kansas followed by the road game at Baylor.
The Wildcats’ 2014 schedule will also include home games against Stephen F. Austin and Auburn, but it is not finalized. They are still searching for a third nonconference game. Texas-San Antonio was scheduled to visit Manhattan, but bought its way out of the game.
KU will again have a week-one bye in 2014 before playing host to Southeast Missouri in its season-opener Sept. 6. The Jayhawks’ other nonconference games are at Duke on Sept. 13 and at home against Central Michigan on Sept. 20.
