A Kansas City man was sentenced Friday to life plus 45 years in prison for the 2011 robbery and killing of a man outside of an east Kansas City convenience store.

A Jackson County jury in August found Derrell M. Wade, 41, guilty of second-degree murder, first-degree robbery, unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action in the November 2011 shooting death of Patrick T. McCarthy, 28, who was slain while sitting in a car outside a store in the 5300 block of East 39th Street.
